Pura Vida is truly one of the best parts of my Arizona story. I stumbled upon this shop over a year ago when I first moved to AZ, and I can confidently say it’s the best coffee I’ve ever had. I’ve always dreamed of being able to walk into a coffee shop and order “the usual” — and I finally got to live that here. My go-to is the iced dirty chai and it is absolutely phenomenal!!! The owners are incredible...so kind, personable, friendly, and genuine. I honestly consider them friends at this point. Their warmth and hospitality are a big part of what makes this place so special. Even though I’m moving to Scottsdale soon for a new job, I’ll 100% still be making the drive to Pura Vida. It’s that good. If you’re looking for amazing coffee, community, and people who truly care, this is the place! :)

Yum yum yum!!! The breakfast options are bomb here. They have non pork options, which is so rare for breakfast spots! Also, every coffee I've tried here is delicious! The couple that owns it are so sweet, and it really has that family vibe and appreciation for culture.

Cute little shop with great decor. I ordered a cortado and the coffee was rich and flavorful. My wife ordered a tea drink from their custom menu called the Happy Gilmore and it was pretty tasty too. Much better coffee than any of the chains in the area.

My family loves hanging out here. We play games and drink delicious Costa Rican coffee. I always get the Nitro Cold Brew with brown sugar cream. It slaps me awake and gets me ready to play a little gin. I love the music and the friendly atmosphere here. No rush to leave, the owners are super friendly and it feels so welcoming. The love is authentic and so is the coffee.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “Pura Vida Grinds in Mesa is absolutely a gem — from the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and relaxed. Their Costa Rican flair shows through in every detail — the art, the mugs, even the vibe. The Lobo is a must-try: rich espresso, smooth caramel, and chocolate blending perfectly. The staff (especially Angie and Lobo) greeted me by name and were genuinely excited to recommend their favorites. I also grabbed one of their pastries — fresh, flaky, and paired beautifully with my latte. Inside seating is cozy yet airy, and the outdoor tables let you soak in Mesa’s quieter side. Whether you’re meeting a friend or catching up on work, this place delivers on atmosphere and flavor. Highly recommend to anyone looking for more than just “another coffee shop” — this is an experience.”

The east valley was seriously lacking in coffee shops until Pura Vida popped up. They have a solid cold brew and a solid espresso shot. The bagels are the best around. No longer do you have to grab a crappy coffee at a diner, or support the big guy (Starbucks) They offer a small menu of breakfast items, a few pastries, coffee, specialty drinks and teas. They also have a lot of fun Costa Rica merch, beans and coffee brewing supplies.

The vibe is cozy. I could kick back there for hours. The coffee is awesome, and the owners are pretty chill. This location is off the path without a lot of food places in the Plaza, but I say stop by anyway. Bring your laptop or a book and relax in this Costa Rican getaway in Mesa. Try the Lobo. Thanks, Lobo and Angie.

Went looking for cuban espresso, and this was closest we could find. Came here. Cozy, cool setup with games and comfy chairs. People here are so nice and sweet. Consensus: It's a damn good cup of coffee. Will be back again!
